Our much-anticipated 2nd Annual Dinner took place on 20 September 2023 at the NUS ArClab, a conservation shophouse that is currently being used as a training centre for the conservation of the architectural heritage of Singapore . The evening was made all the more special by our host, Dr Nikhil Joshi, who not only welcomed us but also gave us an impromptu lecture on the rich architectural history of the property, dating all the way back to the 1880s.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the potluck dinner featuring a wide array of delectable dishes and drinks, prepared by our members and collaborators/guests. Each had a story to tell about the dish they brought, and what made it even more remarkable was that some of the food and drinks were crafted from the produce from the M.a.D. Gardens @Winstedt and @Changi.
Notably, this year’s annual dinner also had a strong emphasis on sustainability, minimising the use of disposable items. Members and guests alike washed up their own plates, bowls and cutlery, while used tissue paper was collected for composting. This ensured that even the remnants of our delightful feast contributed to a greener future.
All in all, it was a night of delicious homemade flavours, engaging conversations, and a sense of the shared purpose. The event will be remembered fondly for years to come.
Our thanks go to Atul Garg and Nikhil Joshi of NUS for their generous support in providing the venue.
