AMGD Enabling Garden
Permaculture Workshop 3 – Water is Life, Create a Living Pond
Come and join us on
Saturday, 21 November 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
at the AMGD Enabling Garden
This workshop introduces participants to the principles of pond design, construction, and ecosystem development. Participants will learn how to plan and build a pond that supports biodiversity, provides suitable habitats for aquatic organisms, and contributes to the overall health of the garden ecosystem. You will explore how to establish a balanced pond ecosystem by understanding the relationships between aquatic plants, microorganisms, insects, and other pond inhabitants.
Through practical activities and discussions on pond ecology, participants will gain an understanding of water quality, nutrient cycling, habitat creation, and ecological balance. By the end of the activity, participants will appreciate the importance of ponds as valuable ecological features that support wildlife, enhance biodiversity, and promote a more sustainable and resilient environment!
What to bring
Bring your own gloves, water, hat and sunscreen.
About the AMGD Enabling Garden Project
The AMGD Enabling Garden, located with the Enabling Village, is an initiative by Reta Social Enterprise and AMGD Global, working in collaboration with TCHS and the M.a.D. Garden, to create an inclusive and accessible edible garden where Persons with Disabilities can gain training and work experience, while the wider community learns about food, sustainability and inclusion. It is also part of TCHS’s Little Farms Everywhere endeavour, using TCHS’s Collaborative Procurement Framework.
