AMGD Enabling Garden
Permaculture Workshop 1 – Build Soil, Build a Garden
Come and join us on
Saturday, 7 November 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
at the AMGD Enabling Garden
This workshop introduces participants to sustainable gardening practices through setting up a hot compost system and building a keyhole raised bed. Participants will learn how to turn organic waste into nutrient-rich compost using the hot composting method, while exploring how a keyhole raised bed can maximise growing space and improve access to plants. Participants will also learn how to set up a hot compost system and explore the differences between hot and cold composting methods.
In addition, participants will learn how to use pioneer cover crops, such as green beans, as green manure to support soil health, contribute organic matter, and enhance nutrient cycling.
Through practical activities, participants will develop essential skills in building productive growing spaces, reducing organic waste, and applying regenerative gardening techniques to create healthy, resilient, and sustainable gardens!
What to bring
Bring your own gloves, water, hat and sunscreen.
You can also bring your veggie scraps and fruit peel for composting (but no cooked items or any animal products, please).
About the AMGD Enabling Garden Project
The AMGD Enabling Garden, located with the Enabling Village, is an initiative by Reta Social Enterprise and AMGD Global, working in collaboration with TCHS and the M.a.D. Garden, to create an inclusive and accessible edible garden where Persons with Disabilities can gain training and work experience, while the wider community learns about food, sustainability and inclusion. It is also part of TCHS’s Little Farms Everywhere endeavour, using TCHS’s Collaborative Procurement Framework.
